The brief
SHEER Lingerie already had a working Shopify store with a large catalogue and existing settings. The brand wanted to switch to a new theme and redesign the shopping experience in Figma, without losing the product data and setup the team relied on.
Lingerie is hard to buy online. Customers need to find their size across different brands and sizing systems, compare support and coverage, and pick a band and cup combination that actually exists. The new store needed tools that a standard theme does not offer.
What I did
- Migrated the store to the new theme, carrying over existing settings such as product siblings so colour variants kept working.
- Set up category metafields for each product type (padding level, support, wiring and features for bras; rise and coverage for underwear; fit for loungewear) and automated them with a scheduled cron job that generates the values from product tags. The team only adds tags and the product spec table fills itself in.
- Built a second cron job that generates bundle discount codes automatically, so bundle promotions run without anyone creating codes by hand.
- Built a Fit Finder with a bra and panty size converter covering international and brand-specific sizing. It is available as a quick pop-up on product pages, through a floating button on every page, and as a standalone page with three tabs.
- Split bra sizes into separate band and cup selectors that only show valid combinations, and pre-select the recommended size from the Fit Finder result.
- Added a configurable badge system (Sale, Default, Feature and Custom), with rules driven by price changes, metafields and tags, and settings in the theme editor for where each badge appears.
- Built colour swatches on product cards, button-style collection lists with thumbnails, filter selections that persist across collections, a “Sale Only” toggle linked to the store’s filter app, and complementary product cards with size selection.
- Fixed issues found along the way, including multi-currency display and products that could not be added to cart, and ran QA across devices.
The result
- SHEER moved to a new theme without losing the product data and settings the business depended on.
- Shoppers can find their size and compare fit right on the product page, which takes the guesswork out of buying lingerie online.
- Product data and promotions now largely run themselves: scheduled jobs keep metafields in sync with tags and generate bundle discount codes, so the team keeps the catalogue accurate without developer help.
