The brief
Public healthcare in Hong Kong runs across many hospitals, clinics and back-office systems. Patients needed one app that pulled these services together, and it had to be reliable and easy enough for every age group to use.
With millions of users, every release has to be stable on a wide range of iOS and Android devices, and every feature has to meet strict security and privacy requirements.
What I did
- Turned requirements from clinical and business teams into clear specifications that designers, developers and testers could all work from.
- Built features in React Native so a single codebase serves both iOS and Android.
- Shaped the frontend architecture and shared components so new modules could be added without destabilising existing ones.
- Worked with backend and security teams on API integration for patient data.
The result
- HA Go serves more than 3.5 million users and is the main digital front door to Hospital Authority services.
- The modular architecture lets new services join the app over time without rebuilding it.
