The brief
Jacqueline Au Studio designs wedding gowns and bridal accessories, and already had a working Shopify store. The studio wanted extra functions the theme did not offer, without rebuilding the site.
Brides wanted to personalise pieces like veils, gloves and sleeves with embroidery, and the product pages needed a clearer way to present details, length and shipping information.
What I did
- Built an embroidery add-on on product pages with four options: initials, two names, a verse or message, and hand-stitched embroidery. Veils offer the first three, and gloves and sleeves offer hand-stitched embroidery.
- Linked the add-on to embroidery products in Shopify admin, so the studio sets the price and description once and the product page updates automatically. A metafield toggle shows or hides embroidery for each product.
- Built tab-based product details (Description, Details, Length and Shipping), with each tab filled from its own product metafield.
- Added a homepage hero that switches between a background video and an image from the theme editor.
- Restyled the navigation with image backgrounds for the Shop, Collection and Guide submenus, editable in the theme editor with a fallback image.
- Wrote a user guide so the studio team can manage every new feature themselves.
The result
- Brides can add personalised embroidery to their accessories while they shop, rather than arranging it separately.
- Product pages are easier to read, with gown details, lengths and shipping in clear tabs.
- The studio manages embroidery pricing, product tabs, the homepage visual and menu images in Shopify, without developer help.
